Zelensky and Trump Exchange Symbolic Gifts During Informal Meeting
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky surprised the international community with an unexpected gesture during his recent visit to the United States.
He personally presented his American counterpart, Donald Trump, with a special gift — a golf club bearing significant symbolic meaning.
This gesture was handed over by Ukrainian military sergeant Kostiantyn Kartavtsev, who became a hero of this story.
According to Zelensky, the golf club was given because Kartavtsev lost his leg in the early months of Russia’s large-scale invasion, bravely saving his comrades in the most difficult moments.
Trump gratefully accepted the gift, recorded a short video thanking the Ukrainian defender, and emphasized that such gestures symbolize friendship and support.
In return, the American president presented Zelensky with a set of symbolic keys to the White House — a hint at potential future meetings and diplomatic camaraderie.
It is also worth noting that during the multilateral negotiations between Ukraine, the USA, the European Commission, NATO, and several European countries, interruptions occurred — during which Trump called Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Following this, Trump announced his preparation for a trilateral meeting with Zelensky and Putin, opening new avenues for diplomatic negotiations.
