Trump Reveals Illusions Around Crimea Return and NATO Expansion for Ukraine

Former US President Donald Trump has once again expressed skepticism regarding the prospects of Ukraine regaining control over Crimea and its potential accession to NATO.

In his recent interview, he noted that the current state of the conflict between Kyiv and Moscow, as well as the leadership relations between Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin, are more stable than many previously thought.

Trump pointed out that despite longstanding tensions, the leaders of both countries have established communication channels and are engaging better than expected.

He emphasized that the ideas of fully reclaiming Crimea or rapidly joining NATO are unlikely, given how complex and contentious these issues are in regional politics, making their resolution practically impossible at this stage.

During the conversation, Trump highlighted that if things had developed differently, he would have organized not two, but three meetings to seek a compromise between the leaders.

He also indicated that although Zelensky and Putin do not have a close friendship, they maintain working contact and dialogue, which is crucial for stabilizing the situation.

Regarding diplomatic initiatives, Trump recalled his efforts to organize a meeting between the two presidents that, according to him, could ease tensions.

In conclusion, he stressed that the coming weeks will be critically important for determining Ukraine’s security guarantees and that the international community should be vigilant and committed to ensuring stability in the region.
