In today’s interconnected world, the issue of stolen Ukrainian grain has escalated into an international scandal with significant economic implications.

According to the National Resistance Center, Russian forces are actively exporting and selling stolen wheat to more than 70 countries around the globe.

Major buyers of this so-called ‘Russian’ wheat include Middle Eastern nations such as Egypt, Turkey, and Iran, which continue to generate substantial demand for Ukrainian grain despite ongoing conflict.

This massive operation aims to solidify Moscow’s presence in the global grain market by leveraging resources seized from temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.

Earlier reports indicated that over 2.5 million tons of wheat had already been exported from the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions, highlighting the scale of looting and cross-border theft orchestrated by Russia.

Ukraine and international bodies are preparing measures to counteract this theft, with Kyiv already seeking EU sanctions against Bangladeshi companies importing wheat from occupied zones.

Since 2014, Russia has controlled significant parts of Ukraine’s southern agricultural regions, and Kyiv accuses Moscow of systematically stealing crops.

Russia denies these allegations, claiming that these territories are theirs, and the grain is part of their resources.
