Possible Launch of Kh-101 Missiles from Saratov Region: What to Expect and When

On the night of August 19 to 20, Ukrainian military analysts and monitoring resources detected a probable launch of Kh-101 cruise missiles from the Saratov region in Russia.
Preliminary data indicate that military aircraft, believed to be Tu-95MS strategic bombers, operated in the area during nighttime hours, potentially launching cruise missiles toward Ukraine.
This information was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force and various monitoring sources tracking aerial activity.
Reports suggest that at least two missile-carrying aircraft were present in the region during the incident, but definitive confirmation of actual missile launches—or possible mock launches—will likely be available between 3:30 and 3:50 in the early morning hours.
It is during this window that the missiles might cross into Ukrainian airspace.
The Tu-95MS is a longstanding Russian strategic bomber developed during Soviet times and remains a core component of Russia’s long-range aviation capabilities.
This aircraft can carry up to six Kh-55 or Kh-555 cruise missiles, which have a range of up to 2,500 kilometers.
Recently, a missile attack by Russia struck Zaporizhzhia, resulting in at least 30 injuries, illustrating the ongoing threat to Ukrainian civilians.
Such missile launches from Russian territory continue to heighten tensions and pose significant security risks for Ukraine, prompting increased vigilance and preparedness among military and civilian authorities.
