A prominent German political party known for its radical leftist views and staunch criticism of the current government has announced plans to revamp its identity.

The party, ‘Alliance of Sarah Wagenknecht’ (ASW), currently in the spotlight, is launching an extensive process to find a new name.

According to sources, including the reputable publication ‘European Truth’ citing Germany’s Spiegel, founder and leading figure Sarah Wagenknecht has called on her supporters to adopt a ‘creative approach’ and suggest a new name that retains the abbreviation BSW.

She emphasizes the importance of keeping this abbreviation, as for many of her supporters it symbolizes their identity and unity.

In an official message, Wagenknecht encourages submitting ideas that fill the three letters – B, S, and W – with new meaning, inspiration, and significance to ensure the name aligns with contemporary expectations.

Proposals for a new party name can be submitted until August 29, with the final decision to be made at the party congress scheduled for December.

All candidates will be pre-screened and evaluated by party members.

Wagenknecht herself, who previously announced plans to change the name, has proposed a variant ‘Alliance for Security and Prosperity’ (Bündnis für Sicherheit und Wohlstand).

She has long been dubbed ‘Putin’s friend’ due to her pro-Russian stance and controversial statements.

Additionally, she has suggested her own ‘peace plan’ whereby the West would halt arms supplies to Ukraine if Russia agrees to an immediate ceasefire on the front lines.

These developments highlight the complex political motives and internal dynamics surrounding her actions.
