Zelensky in the White House: a new round of diplomatic negotiations focusing on peace and Ukraine’s security
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky embarked on a significant visit to the White House, where he held talks with President Donald Trump to discuss strategic pathways toward ending the Russian-Ukrainian war.
This is Zelensky’s second visit to Washington in the past six months; the previous one was marked by controversy due to his unexpected attire.
This time, the Ukrainian leader appeared in a more casual outfit — a black shirt and jacket without a tie, symbolizing a new diplomatic approach.
The initial bilateral meeting was followed by broader discussions involving leaders from the European Union and NATO, aiming to demonstrate unity and support for Ukraine amid current critical circumstances.
The main topics of discussion included security guarantees for Ukraine in case of an end to hostilities, which are crucial elements for potential peace agreements.
After the White House talks, a joint press conference with high-ranking diplomats and politicians is expected.
The tone of the negotiations was influenced by the recent summit between the US and Russia, which opened possibilities for peace efforts.
Prior to this, Zelensky also met with European leaders at the Ukrainian embassy, emphasizing that strong pressure on the aggressor is the only way to achieve peace.
He also met with US Special Representative Keith Kellogg, highlighting Washington’s influence in pushing Russia towards dialogue and compliance with international agreements.
It is hoped that these diplomatic steps will strengthen Ukraine’s position on the international stage and facilitate the search for lasting peace.Category: Politics, International Relations
