Ukrainian military assesses Russian threats concerning Kherson

Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, in his recent remarks, expressed cautious optimism about the situation in the country’s south.
According to him, Russian forces are intensifying activities along the Dnipro front, primarily focusing around the river crossings at the Dnipro’s estuary and near the Dnipro islands in Kherson region.
In an interview with “RBK-Ukraine,” Syrskyi stated that the aggressors have already deployed a regiment and a marine battalion to the area.
However, he emphasized that these actions do not currently indicate an imminent large-scale offensive by Russian troops.
The general pointed out that at present, Russian forces lack the substantial strike capabilities needed for a major push forward.
Meanwhile, evacuation measures are underway in the Kорабел neighborhood of Kherson, reflecting ongoing threats in that zone.
Despite the persistent danger, Syrskyi warned against complacency, noting that Russia continues efforts to boost its presence on the Dnipro islands, with two airstrikes having targeted the bridge linking the city center to the Kорабел area.
Military officer Stanislav Bunyatov, known by his call sign “Osman,” highlighted that damage to this bridge jeopardizes the hold on southern Kherson and stressed the importance of reinforced defenses of this strategic position.
