President Donald Trump made a dramatic statement ahead of his meeting in Washington regarding the potential terms for resolving the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

According to him, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is in a position where his options are limited: he can either swiftly end the war by satisfying certain conditions or choose to continue fighting regardless of the challenges.

In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump expressed his belief that Ukraine’s leadership can stop hostilities immediately if they are willing to make concessions and understand the realities of international diplomacy.

He emphasized that peace and sovereignty are of utmost importance, but he also outlined strict conditions that Ukraine must meet: relinquishing Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014, and promising never to join NATO.

Trump highlighted that these issues are the current realities and cannot be ignored, as they have been key demands voiced by Vladimir Putin to end the war.

He pointed out that Ukraine will need to decide what matters more—retaking territories or maintaining independence—as these questions will be central during their negotiations in Washington.

It’s also worth noting that Zelensky previously refused to cede Donbas to Russia in conversations with Trump.

Given these new statements from the US, the pressure on Kyiv to accept such conditions seems imminent, yet whether Ukraine will agree remains uncertain.

Every peace decision must consider national interests and the will of the Ukrainian people.
