In contemporary diplomatic circles, Poland has become a subject of discussion due to its bold move – not sending a high-ranking official to the decisive summit in Washington.

Deputy Foreign Minister Teofil Bartoševski explained in an interview on Polsat News that the decision not to participate does not hinder diplomatic processes or diminish the country’s influence in international negotiations.

According to him, U.S.

President Donald Trump personally invites leaders of major countries like Germany or the United Kingdom, while Poland, as a middle-sized country, has its own specific role in global politics.Bartoševski emphasized that the U.S.

administration traditionally prefers to communicate directly with presidents, not prime ministers, a practice common among the largest nations.

This explains Poland’s current approach, guided by the principle that real decisions are made within a narrow circle in Washington, with limited European representation involved. He also noted that Polish diplomacy actively collaborates with European colleagues, and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski conveyed the country’s official stance during a video conference with European envoys.

Sikorski stressed the importance of pressing the aggressor, not the victim, to achieve justice and security in the region.Meanwhile, preparations continue in Washington for President Volodymyr Zelensky’s meeting with Donald Trump.

Although initially scheduled for a bilateral encounter only with the U.S.

President, increasing sources suggest that several European leaders might participate in a joint meeting.

Delegations from the European Union and various European countries, including Germany’s Chancellor, France’s President, and the UK Prime Minister, have already traveled to the U.S.

These developments indicate the significance of the new format of negotiations and their potential impact on regional geopolitics.
