Mass Drone Attack in Kharkiv: Devastation, Victims, and New Details of Incident

Kharkiv experienced a large-scale missile and drone attack, marking one of the most destructive incidents in recent months.
A residential building in the Zarkivskyi district was struck by five unmanned aerial vehicles simultaneously, causing extensive fires and significant destruction.
According to official reports from the regional military administration, the aftermath of this attack included a tragedy — a body was recovered from beneath the debris, and later another was found.
Overall, 18 people were injured in the attack, including three victims, among them a one-and-a-half-year-old girl who lost her life during the shelling.
The tragedy unfolded early in the morning on August 18, when the enemy used four ‘Geran-2’ drones to strike the multi-story residential building.
The impact caused fires on the first, third, and fifth floors, damaging load-bearing structures and causing parts of the building to collapse.
Preliminary data shows that six residential buildings and numerous vehicles sustained damage, and rescue services continue to operate at the scene.
Additionally, two ‘Geran-2’ drones were shot down near the Industrial district, with footage captured by a drone showing the destruction.
At 7:23 AM, the Kharkiv regional prosecutor’s office released aerial footage depicting five hits on the apartment building.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed that a body was found beneath the rubble, raising the death toll to four.
Currently, five people are unaccounted for, possibly trapped under the debris.
The overall number of injured remains at 18, with some hospitalized.
Emergency responses are ongoing amid the tense aftermath of this brutal attack, which has left the city scarred and its residents shaken.
