Escalation in Kharkiv: Rocket attack injures 11 residents amid widespread destruction

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine continues to inflict devastation and human suffering.

Yesterday evening, around 10:50 PM, Russian forces launched a missile strike on Kharkiv, resulting in extensive damage to civilian infrastructure and causing injuries among the city’s residents.

According to Mayor Ihor Terekhov, the number of those injured has now increased to 11 people.

A total of 12 multi-story residential buildings suffered damages, with many windows shattered due to the explosion’s shockwave.

Among the victims are nine women, one man, and a 13-year-old girl, all suffering from acute stress reactions requiring immediate medical attention.Law enforcement authorities have initiated a criminal case under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, considering this incident a war crime.

Additionally, regional officials reported that on August 16th, a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle targeted a private house in Vylshany settlement in Kharkiv district; four people were injured as a result.The city also experienced a missile hit close to a residential area, where an enemy rocket struck the ground nearby.

The blast shattered windows in several apartment buildings.

Emergency responders performed thorough inspections and evacuated residents from damaged units.

Psychologists from the State Emergency Service provided assistance to the affected individuals.

These attacks highlight ongoing threats faced by civilians in Kharkiv amid the broader Ukraine conflict, underscoring the urgent need for protective measures and justice for war crimes committed in the region.
