Unexpected Drone Strike on Private House Near Kharkiv: Casualties and Damage

On the night of August 16, a new distressing incident occurred near Kharkiv, highlighting the increasing use of military drones in the region.
Around 9 p.m., an unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle, believed to be of Russian origin, carried out an attack on a private residence in the village of Vilshani in the Kharkiv district, hitting its yard and causing both material damage and emotional stress for residents.
Official sources reported that four adults suffered stress reactions and were hospitalized: a 49-year-old man, his 46-year-old wife, their 19-year-old daughter, and a 76-year-old relative.
The attack damaged the house and garage, likely from debris or fire remnants.
The exact type of drone involved is currently being identified, but preliminary assessments suggest it was a Russian drone combat vehicle.
Under the procedural guidance of the Dergachiv District Prosecutor’s Office, a criminal case has been initiated under the article pertaining to war crimes.
