Ukrainian Forces Deal Major Blow to Russian Command: Russian General Wounded in Attack in Kursk Region
On the night of August 17, Ukrainian military units intensified their operations on the front line, executing a significant attack on a Russian convoy in the Kursk region, resulting in heavy losses among Russian military leadership.
As a consequence of the strike, a high-ranking Russian officer — Lieutenant General and deputy commander of the ‘Sever’ military grouping, Esedulla Abachev — was seriously wounded.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, he was urgently evacuated by military transport aircraft to the Vishnevsky Central Military Hospital in Moscow.
Due to severe injuries, the general had his arm and leg amputated.
This incident marks one of the most substantial Russian losses recently and demonstrates the effectiveness of Ukrainian strikes on the front.The Ukrainian Defense intelligence emphasizes that Ukrainian forces remain committed to bringing all perpetrators of crimes against the Ukrainian people to justice and assure that every offense will be met with firm response.
They also remind Russian military personnel that lying and spreading misinformation are harmful and that Ukraine will retaliate against every war crime, ensuring accountability.
