Northern Baltic Eight States reaffirm unwavering support for Ukraine: conclusions and future prospects

In a recent joint statement, the leaders of the Nordic-Baltic Eight countries expressed clear intentions to continue and strengthen their support for Ukraine in its fight for independence and sovereignty.

The declaration, issued after significant diplomatic negotiations, highlights that the Baltic nations, Denmark, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, are committed not only to maintaining stability in the region but also to actively seeking long-term solutions to ensure the security of the Ukrainian people.The statement emphasizes that conflict resolution can only be achieved with full compliance with ceasefire regimes and security guarantees for Ukraine, which will be pursued at the international level.

The leaders stress that Russia has no right of veto over Ukraine’s European and NATO integration processes and call for the swift return of abducted children from occupied territories and the release of prisoners of war.Additionally, there is a focus on increasing military assistance to Kyiv, enhancing the country’s defense capabilities, and intensifying sanctions against Russia for its aggression and killings of civilians.

President Zelensky expressed gratitude for this support, emphasizing that only joint efforts can lead to sustainable peace and prevent future escalations.Given ongoing diplomatic activities, Ukrainian leader Zelensky announced that another meeting with the American counterpart is expected soon to discuss further steps to bolster Ukraine’s defense and seek a peaceful resolution.

Zelensky added that achieving long-term peace requires clear policies and continuous support from the international community.
