As top European leaders gather once again in Washington for an important summit, U.S.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that their visit aims to strengthen dialogue and explore peaceful solutions to ongoing conflicts.

Contrary to media narratives suggesting that their intent is to intimidate Zelensky and force unfavorable agreements, Rubio clarified that these leaders are integral to the negotiation process, not victims of it.He made it clear that their attendance is voluntary and was invited by the American side.

‘They decided to come on their own accord.

We have been working with them for weeks, and this meeting is a logical continuation of our ongoing discussions,’ Rubio stated during his appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”Regarding prospects for peace, Rubio tempered expectations concerning immediate breakthroughs but acknowledged that significant progress has been made, justifying further negotiations.

‘I am not promising a peace treaty tomorrow, but there are strides forward that give us hope,’ he emphasized. When asked about previous discussions, particularly a January meeting where Zelensky criticized media speculation and unfavorable policies, Rubio noted: ‘We have had dozens of meetings with Zelensky and Putin, and each one is meaningful.

We’ve met with Zelensky more than ten times, and with Putin just once.

This demonstrates our commitment to dialogue and finding a common solution.’Referring to diplomatic initiatives, Rubio highlighted ongoing negotiations with European colleagues and described their visit as a sign of support and optimism for a positive outcome.

‘We highly value Europe’s active participation, which enhances our chances of achieving lasting peace,’ he assured.
