On the night of August 16-17, near the Russian city of Liski in the Voronezh region, another incident involving unmanned aerial vehicles targeting a strategically important railway hub took place.

According to sources published in Russian media and Telegram channels, including Astra, just before midnight, residents of the region reported hearing the sounds of drones passing overhead, followed by a series of explosions.

Official statements from Voronezh governor Alexander Gusev confirmed that air defense systems were actively engaged, and subsequently, several drones were shot down over the region.

Despite this, the attack had tangible consequences: debris from one of the drones damaged an electrical transmission line at the Liski station, causing delays and stoppages for several trains, thereby complicating logistics and inconveniencing passengers.

Locals described hearing loud blasts and feeling the ground shaking during the incident.

Authorities summarized that this event is part of an increasing series of attacks on critical infrastructure within Russian regions.

They emphasized that air defense measures worked as intended and successfully intercepted most threats.

Nevertheless, this incident underscores the fragility of security systems and the persistent danger looming over regions vulnerable to such attacks, highlighting the need for ongoing vigilance and strengthening of protective measures.
