Next week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to travel to Washington, D.C., to engage in high-level discussions with American officials and European leaders concerning Ukraine’s security situation and prospects for peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict.

According to Ukrainian sources, during a recent phone call with Donald Trump, Zelensky reaffirmed Ukraine’s readiness to work actively towards ending the war, including discussions on a potential tripartite meeting between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia.

Zelensky detailed that his conversations with the American president lasted over one and a half hours, initially in a one-on-one format, followed by a joint discussion with European leaders.

These talks focused on the current status of the conflict, future diplomatic steps, and the importance of coordination among allies for a sustainable peace. The Ukrainian leader also shared that he discussed with Trump his recent meeting with Russian officials and emphasized the critical role of U.S.

influence in shaping the situation.

Zelensky expressed support for the idea of a trilateral summit involving Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia, arguing that only at the leadership level can key issues be effectively addressed.

He indicated that detailed negotiations will continue during his upcoming visit to Washington.Zelensky expressed gratitude for American support and reassurances of assistance in ensuring Ukraine’s security.

He also highlighted the importance of European involvement at every stage of the peace process as essential for establishing a reliable safety net for Ukraine.

The Ukrainian president underscored that his government remains committed to achieving a resolution and ending the conflict through diplomatic efforts.Regarding recent international events, the summit between Trump and Putin on Alaska on August 15 concluded without the breakthrough expected by Ukraine, Europe, and the U.S.

There was no ceasefire agreement, and while Trump rated the meeting as a perfect 10 out of 10, Western media saw the event as a disgrace for the United States.

Reports suggest that Putin managed to impose his stance and leave the talks early, giving the impression of a one-sided negotiation.Following the summit, Trump contacted Zelensky, as promised, though the details of their conversation remain private.

In a subsequent interview, Trump indicated that the major consensus with Putin was that the Ukraine conflict could potentially end with territorial exchanges and security guarantees from the U.S.

This places the primary responsibility on Zelensky to move forward with these diplomatic initiatives. The upcoming visit and discussions are seen as crucial steps toward stabilizing the region and building a sustainable peace framework that involves active cooperation among all sides involved.
