In the Donetsk region, Ukrainian military and police units from the ‘Hizjak’ detachment demonstrated their skill and resilience by successfully capturing a Russian militant who was a former player of the Russian national rugby team.

The operation not only resulted in detention but also involved a strategic move: a drone dropped a note with instructions, leading the captured enemy into Ukrainian hands.

According to sources, near Toretsk, aerial reconnaissance detected and overwhelmed a group of Russian assault soldiers attempting to approach Ukrainian positions.

During the clash, one of the invaders was wounded and subsequently committed suicide, while the other raised his hands in surrender.

The captured individual, aged 43 from Kazan, was a former Russian rugby player and owner of a cryptocurrency firm.

After bankruptcy and debts amounting to six million rubles, he divorced and was advised by his new partner to ‘go make money’ at war.

Despite initial promises not to go to the front, he was compelled into an assault squad.

He claims he does not want to kill Ukrainians and hopes to return to Russia, fearing further conscription.

This incident follows another similar event on July 20, when border guards captured a Russian sailor on the Kursk direction, illustrating ongoing tensions and the challenging military situation in the region.
