Ukrainian Defenders Achieve Significant Gains on Donetsk Front: Progress and Challenges
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have been actively undertaking offensive operations in the Donetsk region for several days, tightening the encirclement around the enemy and making strategic advances on specific sections of the front line.
President Volodymyr Zelensky highlighted that Ukrainian troops demonstrate cohesiveness and high combat readiness, achieving notable victories near the towns of Dobropillia and Pokrovsk.
These successes are made possible through the efforts of units such as the 1st National Guard Corps—including the Azov Battalion—the 7th Airmobile Assault Brigade, as well as the naval infantry named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny and the 93rd Independent Mechanized Brigade “Kholodny Yar.” Zelensky emphasized ongoing efforts to eliminate Russian invading forces attempting to penetrate Ukrainian positions and stressed the importance of replenishing exchange stocks through Russian losses.
At the same time, he warned that in the coming days, Russian forces might escalate their attacks to create more favorable conditions for diplomatic negotiations with international partners.
Ukrainian intelligence reports indicate Russian troop movements and concentration, and Kyiv’s military will be prepared to counter any enemy advances, including asymmetric defense measures.
