The Government of Ukraine has taken significant steps to strengthen its efforts in supporting its citizens who have suffered the most devastating losses during the ongoing conflict.

During an extraordinary meeting held on August 15, the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers approved a series of measures aimed at easing the burden on families of fallen soldiers and accelerating the procurement of modern military equipment.

Notably, the government approved a financial aid package totaling 15 million hryvnias dedicated to families of service members who died while in captivity.

Additionally, new procedures have been introduced to speed up repairs and the procurement process for damaged or worn-out military equipment, including allowing military units to purchase used pickups, quad bikes, Buggies, and motorcycles directly, bypassing bureaucratic delays.

The valuation of such equipment will be based on market prices or expert assessments.

Furthermore, simplified procedures for writing off damaged property—if its value does not exceed 1.7 million hryvnias—have been implemented, facilitating quicker replacements.

Another crucial legislative initiative involves postponing the publication of military declarations for one year after the end of wartime, enhancing security by preventing these data from falling into enemy hands.

The Ministry of Defense is also working on legislative amendments to strengthen the safety and efficiency of Ukrainian defenders.

These comprehensive measures reflect the government’s firm resolve to support national security and stabilizing the living standards of citizens affected by the conflict, focusing especially on the most vulnerable groups, including families of fallen and injured soldiers, while ensuring rapid procurement and repair of essential military equipment.
