Ukraine Sets Strategic Priority: Achieving Peace Through Strength and International Support Post-Trump-Putin Meeting
Following a recent high-level meeting between U.S.
President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiga emphasized a crucial message for his country: peace with Russia can only be achieved through a firm and strategic approach rooted in strength, reinforced by international allies, and by bolstering Ukraine’s own defense capabilities.
In an official post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Sybiga expressed gratitude to the United States for their ongoing involvement and unwavering commitment to supporting Ukraine’s quest for freedom and security, as well as their backing of efforts to restore peace.
He highlighted the significance of the upcoming Monday’s meeting in Washington between Ukrainian and American leaders, where strategic steps to end the war, reduce tensions, and restore regional stability will be discussed.
The minister also shared positive signals received from the U.S.
government, indicating readiness to work together on establishing a reliable security guarantee infrastructure for Ukraine, aimed at preventing future aggressions.
Sybiga supported President Trump’s initiative to organize a trilateral meeting with Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia — a crucial step towards long-term peace and political resolution of the conflict.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian minister stressed that Putin must understand the consequences of prolonging the war and his own inaction.
He pointed out that Putin’s past involved a pattern of deception and discrediting his word, and only concrete actions can demonstrate his true willingness to end terror and aggression.
Sybiga reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to coordinate closely with all allies, valuing their support and emphasizing transatlantic unity as essential to achieving sustainable peace and security.
