Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has undertaken a significant diplomatic effort by engaging in a series of critical phone conversations with key European counterparts in the lead-up to President Volodymyr Zelensky’s scheduled meeting with U.S.
leader Donald Trump in Washington.
During these exchanges, he coordinated positions with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide and Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts to achieve peace and security for Ukraine.In his talk with Espen Barth Eide, topics ranged from current diplomatic initiatives to the necessity of increasing international pressure on Russia to move from rhetoric to concrete actions.
Emphasis was placed on verifying Moscow’s intentions through tangible steps rather than words alone, especially in the context of ongoing conflicts.Sybiha expressed gratitude to Norway for its unwavering support, highlighting the importance of utilizing frozen Russian assets effectively and working on long-term financial assistance and energy procurement.
The Ukrainian diplomat also discussed with Sikorski the latest international developments, praising Poland’s steadfast support and stressing that unity among allies and coordinated actions are essential for ensuring European security and providing guarantees to Ukraine.Furthermore, it is publicly known that Scandinavian countries and Denmark have pledged over $500 million to support Ukraine’s armed forces through American weapons supplies.
