President Donald Trump has expressed his intention to rapidly initiate a tripartite summit involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and European leaders.

According to sources, Trump proposed organizing this format as early as August 22 during discussions with Putin in Alaska and in conversations with Ukrainian officials.

However, the conditions set forth by Moscow significantly complicate the prospects of such a meeting — notably demanding Ukraine’s withdrawal from Donetsk and Luhansk regions, along with freezing the frontline in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.

Russia also insists on recognition of its sovereignty over the occupied territories by the United States.

Meanwhile, Trump invited European leaders to join the meeting, which he suggested could be held at the White House on Monday.

He characterized his talks with Putin as productive and stated that various issues had been largely agreed upon.

Despite this, Moscow has yet to confirm publicly its willingness to participate in such a tripartite summit, leaving the matter uncertain.

During his journey from Alaska to Washington, Trump and his envoy Steve VITKOFF shared with Ukrainian officials and European representatives details about Russia’s positions.

According to them, Putin demands Ukraine relinquish control over two regions — Donetsk and Luhansk — and freeze the front lines in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, in exchange for halting Russian advances in those areas.

An insider revealed that Moscow considers these concessions as compromises, with Ukraine expected to agree to withdraw forces from Donetsk.

These diplomatic maneuvers reflect Moscow’s effort to solidify a de-facto status quo on occupied territories.

Ukrainian President Zelensky has confirmed his readiness to travel to the United States for talks with Trump and supported the idea of a tripartite summit, emphasizing that such discussions should occur at the highest leadership level.

This opens the possibility of diplomatic resolutions to pressing issues, although specific dates and formats are yet to be finalized officially.
