Zelensky warns: Russian strikes continue even before high-stakes meetings with Trump and Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a stark warning that despite preparations for pivotal diplomatic talks on Alaska, Russian forces continue their aggressive attacks across Ukrainian territories.
He emphasized that on the eve of a meeting between U.S.
President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Russian troops persist with targeted shelling of Ukrainian regions, signaling that their aim remains destruction of civilian infrastructure and intimidation of the population.
Zelensky revealed that Ukrainian intelligence and diplomatic agencies consistently receive reports on preparations for upcoming negotiations, as well as details of Russian operational activities on the ground.
Specifically, recent strikes have hit central markets in Sumy, and there have been attacks on cities and enterprises in Dnipropetrovsk region, along with deliberate shelling in Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Donetsk.
All these actions illustrate that the war persists, with no signs of Russia halting its campaign soon.
Zelensky stressed that the ongoing conflict is fueled not only by Ukraine’s military resilience but also by the crucial lack of clear orders or signals from Moscow to cease hostilities.
He added that Ukraine remains committed to productive negotiations, aiming for a just and honest end to the war.
A key element in this effort is the support and strength of the United States, which, according to Zelensky, greatly influence Russia’s decisions.
He expressed confidence that the stronger the US position, the faster and more effectively the war will conclude, as Russia considers the power and resolve of its international partners.
