In the early hours of Friday, August 15, Ukrainian special operations forces, in coordination with other defense units, launched a significant attack on the strategically vital maritime port of Olya, located in the Astrakhan region of Russia.

This port is the largest commercial hub on the Caspian Sea for the country, playing a crucial role in military supplies and logistics.

According to official information released by Ukraine’s General Staff, the strike was part of measures aimed at degrading the enemy’s capacity to conduct air raids against Ukraine.

Russia heavily relies on this port to import military equipment and components from Iran, including parts for Shahed drones and ammunition.

The Ukrainian attack reportedly hit the vessel “Port Olya 4,” which was loaded with specific components for Shahed UAVs and weaponry.

Details of the damage are still being clarified, but the strike is seen as a strategic move in disrupting the enemy’s logistical chains and military support routes, with symbolic and tactical significance.
