Russian Shelling in Sviatohirsk Claims Lives of Two Ukrainian Police Officers

In the early hours of June 15, the city of Sviatohirsk in Donetsk region was the site of a tragic incident that once again highlights the dangers faced by Ukrainian law enforcement officers working in conflict zones.

During a routine patrol, two police officers were caught in a heavy attack by Russian armed forces, resulting in their immediate deaths.

According to the Donetsk Regional Police, the attack occurred around 4:45 a.m., when officers were on duty maintaining public order and safety for local residents.

It has been reported that their patrol vehicle was targeted with sniper fire by the enemy, causing fatal injuries to Senior District Officer Roman Penko from Police Department No.

4 (Sloviansk) of the Kramatorsk District Police Department, and to Valentin Havrysh, a police driver from the local police unit.

Data from the Regional Military Administration of Donetsk indicates that Russian forces carried out 49 shelling incidents across the region over the past day, intentionally targeting residential areas and vital infrastructure.

As a result of these attacks, 5,766 civilians, including 213 children, have been evacuated from danger zones in order to protect their lives.

This tragedy painfully underscores the immense sacrifices made by Ukrainian defenders and reinforces the urgent need for continued resilience and perseverance in the fight for Ukraine’s sovereignty and security.
