Russian drone causes tragedy in Sumy region: 73-year-old man killed during attack

On the morning of August 15, a tragic event unfolded in the Sumy region that shocked the entire community.
A Russian unmanned aerial vehicle launched an attack on a vehicle in the village of Velykopysarivska hromada, part of the Ohtyrka district.
As a result of the strike, a 73-year-old man, who was driving the car at the time, lost his life instantly.
According to Oleh Hryhorovych, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, this incident is yet another stark reminder of how the ongoing war continues to destroy infrastructure and claim innocent lives.
“Around 7:00 in the morning, a Russian drone targeted a car in the village of Velykopysarivska hromada, resulting in the death of a local elderly resident,” he stated.
During the attack, an ambulance stationed nearby was also damaged, complicating emergency response efforts.
Additionally, a fire broke out at a gas station in Sumy city due to the drone strike.
Reports indicate that another individual was injured in the aftermath of the attack.
These events underline the devastating consequences of Russian aggression against civilian populations in Ukraine.
The local community and authorities have expressed their deepest condolences to the family of the victim and are calling for increased protective measures and an end to hostilities.
Despite ongoing efforts to restore damaged infrastructure in the region, a safe and secure environment remains an urgent concern for residents and officials alike.
