Lazy Weeks Without War: How Odessa Children Enjoyed a Rest in Greece Supported by Charitable Foundation

The past few weeks have marked a rare moment of peace for children from the Odessa region, who were able to temporarily escape the hardships of war and experience the warmth and safety of Greece.
This became possible thanks to the efforts of local philanthropists and the support of international organizations, notably the Bumburas Foundation, led by Greek businessman and patron Pantelis Bumburas.
This summer, over 80 children from Odessa had the unique opportunity to spend their holidays at a camp situated near the Greek city of Kavala, on the northern shores of the Aegean Sea.According to Oleg Kiper, the head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration, this project was a real celebration for the children: they enjoyed sunny days, warm waters of the Aegean Sea, pristine beaches, fascinating excursions, and sports competitions.
Additionally, they made new friends, and learned more about local history and culture.Kiper emphasizes that the main support for implementing this initiative came from a charitable organization established by the Greek entrepreneur.
The headquarters of their construction company «GEFEST» is located in Odessa, facilitating close ties with the Ukrainian community and humanitarian efforts. It is worth noting that Greece has officially opened its borders to tourists, including Ukrainian vacationers.
They not only enjoyed scenic views and sea breezes but also explored the region’s history and culture through excursions to nearby cities.
During their stay in Greece, the children visited the port city of Thessaloniki, where they viewed the ADRUM art marathon exhibition, broadening their cultural horizons.Preliminary reports indicate that this project is yet another example proving that even in difficult times, efforts can unite to help and support the younger generation, which deeply needs warmth, care, and protection.
During wartime, it is essential to maintain hope for a better future and provide young people with opportunities to experience the world in all its beauty and goodness.
