Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov unexpectedly arrived in Alaska, where crucial negotiations between the United States and Russia are scheduled to take place.

What drew significant public and media attention was his choice of clothing: a sweater bearing a symbol reminiscent of the Soviet Union’s abbreviation «USSR».

Lavrov was seen entering a hotel in Anchorage, where he will stay during his visit.

He exited his vehicle dressed in a dark vest, with a glimpse of the unusual inscription visible beneath.

In an interview with the Russian outlet «Izvestia», the minister highlighted that he had visited Alaska before and that he considers this region personally significant.

The sweater Lavrov wore is produced by the Russian apparel brand SelSovet, founded in 2017 in Chelyabinsk, with a retail price of about 10,990 rubles.

Meanwhile, amid preparations for a high-stakes summit, Russian media reports indicated that Moscow is preparing «historical documents» to argue that Ukraine is an artificially created state.

U.S.

President Donald Trump expressed his expectation of a serious and respectful approach during the meeting and warned Moscow of «very serious consequences» if Russia fails to take measures to end the ongoing conflict.

A pro-Ukraine rally was also held in Anchorage ahead of the leaders’ summit, demonstrating strong support for Ukraine’s sovereignty amidst tense diplomatic negotiations.
