Karol Navołćki Highlights the Significance of Ukrainians in Poland’s Independence and Modern Fight for Freedom

On the 105th anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw in 1920, a pivotal moment in Poland’s struggle to preserve its independence, President Karol Navołćki recalled the vital role played by the Ukrainian people in this historic confrontation.
He emphasized that Ukrainians actively supported Poland’s efforts, demonstrating resilience and bravery both on the battlefield and in the rear.
As a historian by profession, the president highlighted that Poland’s independence and the freedom of its citizens are rooted in the fundamental human and national dignity, beyond mere military or economic issues.He believes that the ongoing fight of Ukraine against Russian aggression is a direct legacy of these struggles for liberty.
Navołćki warns against attempts to sow discord between these nations, as such propaganda aims to destabilize Europe.
He stressed that solidarity and mutual support can transform the world.
Poland’s assistance to millions of Ukrainian refugees has shown that Russian imperialism cannot break the will of nations fighting for sovereignty and independence.
He added that united efforts can make Europe whole and peaceful, and that Russia’s imperial ambitions present a challenge that must be faced, not surrendered to.
