U.S. Participates in the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ Virtual Meeting Ahead of Trump-Putin Negotiations in Alaska

Ahead of the scheduled negotiations between U.S.
President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, the United States made its first official entry into the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ format — an enthusiastic initiative uniting countries interested in supporting European security and stability.
Support for this move was expressed by the heads of the Netherlands, Czechia, and Romania, who in their statements on social media emphasized the importance of such coordination.
The meeting was held via video conference just before the Friday negotiations in the ‘Resu’ format between Trump and Putin.
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte highlighted that this event demonstrates a high level of unity and a common stance regarding support for Ukraine’s fight for independence and territorial integrity.
He stressed the need to continue pressure on Russia and involve Ukraine in negotiations for a fair peace.
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala underlined that the main goal of the coalition meeting was to coordinate positions ahead of upcoming negotiations.
He expressed confidence that participant countries are taking significant steps towards building a unified front and also announced the delivery of one million units of large-caliber ammunition to Ukraine within the Czech aid initiative.
Romanian President Klaus Iohannis mentioned in his statement that such coordination efforts are strategically important for fostering transatlantic unity and ensuring peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict.
He reaffirmed U.S.
leadership support and expressed hope for restoring stability and security in the region.
These historic discussions signal a strengthening of international responsibility and demonstrate solidarity with Ukraine during difficult wartime.
Additionally, following a series of phone calls on August 13 between U.S.
and European leaders, it was revealed that the U.S.
is ready to enhance its security presence in Europe without NATO involvement.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the possibility of a meeting between U.S.
and Russian leaders in Alaska scheduled for August 15, with an expressed willingness to maintain contacts after the event.
