Trump assesses a 25% chance of failure in meeting with Putin and analyzes potential impacts on Ukraine-Russia conflict

Former U.S.
President Donald Trump made a surprising forecast regarding his upcoming meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, estimating a 25% probability of failure.
According to him, this meeting is a crucial step in preparing for a possible second encounter with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during which key issues related to ending the war are expected to be discussed.
Trump emphasized that while the initial summit carries certain risks, he believes the outcome of the second meeting will determine the future of negotiations.
“Meeting with Putin is like a chess game: each move can change the situation.
If the first meeting does not succeed, there is a 25% chance it will fail,” he said.
He also mentioned that at the second summit, concessions regarding borders and territories might be made, paving the way for a potential agreement.
Trump added that he is willing to impose additional sanctions on Russia if the conflict is not resolved, especially in the context of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
He further speculated that Putin aims to “reach an agreement” to halt the conflict that has been ongoing for over a year.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Trump would call him after his meeting with Putin, potentially adding more context to diplomatic efforts in the region.
