The Moldovan authorities have officially addressed the situation surrounding the appearance of Ukrainian military aircraft over the northern regions of the country.

According to information provided by the Moldovan Civil Aviation Authority, three Ukrainian planes were recorded in the sky above Bălți on August 13, moving towards the Mărcușești airport.

These aircraft were in Moldova based on official requests from Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, related to humanitarian and urgent missions.

Specifically, the aircraft included one An-26, three An-32Ps, and one An-32B — all used for search and rescue operations.

Reports indicate that three of these planes made temporary landings at Mărcușești Airport for maintenance and technical servicing, which is a routine procedure.

It is important to note that Mărcușești Airport is located in the northeastern part of Moldova, approximately 30 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, making it a strategically significant point for such operations.

Additionally, last year, the Moldovan Ministry of Defense had to deny rumors about a permitted transit of US F-16 fighter jets through Moldovan territory to Ukraine, and in 2022, they refuted reports about a Ukrainian aircraft allegedly transporting spare parts for fighter jets.

These explanations confirm that all military aviation movements are conducted according to official requests and collaborative efforts between the countries, within the context of the current security situation.
