Lyman Sector: Devastating Russian Losses in Fighting Ukrainian Drones and Ongoing Civilian Evacuations

In eastern Ukraine, particularly along the Lyman front, fierce battles continue between Ukrainian forces and Russian troops.
Over recent weeks, the Russian military has intensified its efforts, launching massive assaults aimed at breaking through Ukrainian defenses.
However, these offensives are accompanied by heavy human and technical losses, especially among untrained and conscripted soldiers sent into the most dangerous areas without adequate preparation.
Ukrainian military officials report that the average lifespan of a Russian shock troop is around one month, indicating extremely high fatality rates.
Recruits undergo only several weeks of training before being sent into ‘meat grinder’ assaults, where they face Ukrainian drones and effective air defenses.
Many of the Russian soldiers are former prisoners or individuals from socially vulnerable backgrounds lured by promises of money.
They realize the brutal reality of war only when they come under Ukrainian drone attack.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces note significant losses among Russian assault units due to rapid destruction of their equipment—typically within 30–40 minutes depending on electronic warfare capabilities and armor protection.
To minimize casualties, Russian troops try to destroy their vehicles en route, leaving the soldiers either injured or eliminated before reaching the target.
Additionally, the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin, announced the mandatory evacuation of families from 19 settlements within the Lyman community.
These evacuations are conducted under extremely difficult conditions—under constant shelling, near active combat zones, with risks of new attacks and explosions.
The operation involves cooperation with military, rescue services, police, and volunteers to ensure the safety of residents during this tense period.
