Hungary’s far-right opposition leader, Peter Madyar, has unexpectedly accused Russia of secretly attempting to influence the country’s upcoming elections.

According to him, Russian intelligence agencies are actively engaged in using their resources to undermine his campaign and destabilize Hungary’s domestic political landscape.

Madyar emphasized that after years of a so-called independent policy, Russia is once again seeking to interfere directly in Hungarian affairs, aiming to sway public opinion and influence voter decisions.

Meanwhile, the Hungarian government, including Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó, confirmed the circulation of a Russian message publicly identifying Madyar as a puppet of Western interests, further escalating political tensions before the April elections.

Hungary’s elections are traditionally highly charged, with issues such as economic difficulties, corruption scandals, and internal conflicts playing significant roles.

The allegations of Russian interference threaten to complicate the electoral process even further and could deepen societal divisions.

Additionally, recent reports have surfaced displaying pictures of Prime Minister Orbán’s new estate, featuring a luxurious palm garden and a private zoo, provoking public controversy.

Orbán, however, denies any connection between the estate and government property, claiming it is a farm for his parents that remains unfinished, underscoring his transparency and openness about his private projects.
