Amid recent international developments, top leaders of western countries have issued a joint statement firmly opposing any restrictions on Ukraine’s armed forces and condemning Russia’s veto power over Ukraine’s accession to NATO.

Published on the official UK government website, the statement was signed by presidents of France and the United States, the German Chancellor, and the UK Prime Minister, reaffirming unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and their commitment to fast-tracking Ukraine’s integration into European and transatlantic structures.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was also present at the meeting, emphasizing the global significance of this coalition. The primary message of the statement is a rejection of any political or military restrictions on Ukraine’s military capabilities.

The leaders advocate for active diplomacy, combining support for Ukraine with pressure on Russia through sanctions and economic measures.

They stressed that peace negotiations can only proceed if Russia agrees to cease fire, return occupied territories, and provide security guarantees based on international treaties and respect for borders.Special emphasis was placed on the fact that Russia has no right to veto Ukraine’s path to the EU and NATO.

The coalition promises continued support after the cessation of hostilities and readiness to back Ukrainian defensive efforts.

Furthermore, they highlighted that no limitations should be imposed on Ukraine’s armed forces or its cooperation with international partners, nor should Russia block Ukraine’s integration efforts.Macron, Starmer, and Merz confirmed ongoing close cooperation with the US and Ukraine, aiming to establish conditions for lasting and just peace.

US President Donald Trump has already reached agreements with European leaders regarding “red lines” for future negotiations with Vladimir Putin, and is preparing for a trilateral summit in Alaska that could become pivotal in resolving the conflict.
