Youth of Ukraine: From Childhood Ambitions to Future Leadership Roles

Today, Ukrainian youth are not only viewed as the future of the country but also as active participants in its current life.

Aged between 18 and 35, young Ukrainians possess unique opportunities to realize their ambitions and contribute significantly to national development.

On one hand, they fight on the frontlines to defend independence and sovereignty; on the other, they engage in various sectors of the economy, technology, and science, innovating and supporting stability.

The Ministry of Justice emphasizes that it is exactly young people who are creating today’s history and laying a strong foundation for a free, powerful, and successful Ukraine.Every August, Ukraine celebrates Youth Day — a symbol of the strength and enthusiasm of the younger generation.

Despite numerous challenges, including ongoing aggression and war, youth demonstrate resilience and activity.

From age 14, young Ukrainians can open bank accounts, obtain travel documents, and participate in decisions regarding their residence.

At 16, they can get driver’s licenses, make agreements, and marry by court order.

By 18, they can officially work in government institutions, participate in elections, and drive passenger or freight vehicles.

The age of 21 is considered a milestone when young adults can become members of parliament or operate public transport.

At 30, opportunities include working as judges, while at 35, they can run for the presidency of Ukraine.Within the context of political and state activity, it is important to highlight that contemporary youth have increasing opportunities and support to pursue higher education and return to Ukraine after studying abroad.

Co-founder of the civic initiative «Holka» Margarita Sytnyk and expert Artem Shaipov emphasize that transparent and competitive competitions for government positions, along with broad opportunities for young professionals, will help attract new talent to public service.

Young people with Western education are eager to work for Ukraine, earning достойную salary and participating in large-scale reforms.

These efforts will shape a strong, modern, and prosperous Ukrainian future society.
