Viktor Orbán makes shocking statement: Russia has already won the war against Ukraine
Amidst the recent flurry of political developments across Europe, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán issued a surprising and provocative statement that has stirred considerable debate.
In an interview with Hungarian media outlets, reported by Reuters and other agencies, Orbán declared that Russia has already ‘won’ the war in Ukraine.
This assertion contrasts sharply with the official European and international narratives, raising questions about his stance amidst ongoing tensions.
Orbán, who notably stood alone among European Union leaders by abstaining from supporting a joint declaration favoring Ukraine’s future independence, stated quite explicitly that the conflict has concluded with Russia emerging victorious.
He explicitly mentioned, ‘We are now talking as if it is a war with an uncertain outcome, but that is not the case.
Ukrainians have lost the war.
Russia has won it.’ The Hungarian politician elaborated that the key question now is ‘when and under what circumstances will the West, which supports Ukraine, recognize this reality and determine what the overall outcome will be.’ Furthermore, Orbán expressed concerns that Europe missed the opportunity to negotiate directly with Vladimir Putin during the administration of former US President Joe Biden, and now risks finding itself sidelined in shaping the future.
He warned that ‘if you are not at the negotiating table, you are on the menu,’ emphasizing the importance of active diplomacy.
Additionally, he voiced criticism of the European Union’s unified stance towards Ukraine, calling it ‘ridiculous and pathetic,’ and advocates for more assertive engagement in global decisions shaping Europe’s future.
