Millions of people in Ukraine and around the world continue to discuss Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s statement claiming that Russia has already secured victory in its war against Ukraine.

These remarks came just before important diplomatic meetings, including negotiations between U.S.

President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Such statements have caused widespread resonance in international circles and cast doubt on Ukraine’s future independence and security.

Orbán, who has been serving as Prime Minister since 2010, faces criticism for his close ties with Moscow and his overt refusal to support military assistance to Kyiv, which remains a key diplomatic stance today.

In his comments, he expressed his opinion that Ukraine has already lost the war, and Russia has achieved full dominance, leaving Europe to face new challenges.

He also expressed disagreement with the European Union’s joint statement affirming Ukraine’s right to determine its own future, emphasizing that the war is ongoing, but for Ukraine, it has already resulted in defeat.

Orbán insists that the West, supposedly supporting Ukraine, should finally acknowledge this reality and consider its consequences.

His statements are part of a broader commentary on the European unity regarding support for Ukraine and lead to ongoing discussions about the region’s future and Russia’s role in global politics.

At the same time, he openly states that Europe missed the chance to negotiate with Vladimir Putin during the Biden administration, and now risks further instability.

An example of his approach is his refusal to support Ukraine’s accession to the EU, citing potential harm to Hungarian farmers and the economy in general.

Additionally, Orbán believes that Ukraine’s entry into the EU could destabilize the region and requires serious consideration.
