Over 90 People Evacuated from Dangerous Areas in Sumy Region: Transit Centers and Evacuation Efforts in Conflict Zones

Last week, residents of the Sumy region, who had been under constant shelling and threat to their lives for several days, took the opportunity to evacuate.
According to Oleg Grigorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, 97 people, including 13 children, have already left dangerous districts of the region.
The main reason for this decision is the tense situation caused by Russian aggression, including targeted shelling and missile strikes on residential neighborhoods.
Evacuations are primarily carried out from communities such as Bilopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Glukhiv, Seryedino-Bud, and Sveska.
These measures are an urgent but vital step to save lives.
In Kherson, evacuation operations continue among residents of the Korable microdistrict.
Transit centers functioning in Sumy, Shostka, and Romny provide over 400 available spots where evacuees can stay temporarily, access humanitarian aid, medical and psychological support, and receive monthly state payments or one-time assistance from international organizations.
Given the ongoing security threats, authorities have prepared more than 200 places for long-term residence in local housing, apartments, and dormitories.
A weekly free evacuation train runs from Sumy to Uzhgorod.
Oleg Grigorov urges those remaining near the border to avoid risks and evacuate to safer areas to preserve their lives.
Meanwhile, the military situation remains tense: recently, the Ukrainian Armed Forces completed clearing border villages such as Stepne and Novokostyantynivka of Russian occupants, exemplifying active defense and regional security strengthening.
