In the heart of Alaska, in its largest city — Anchorage, preparations are underway for a significant protest against the planned visit of Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Organized by the public initiative ‘Stand Up Alaska,’ the rally is scheduled for August 14, just a day before the anticipated negotiations between US President Donald Trump and the Russian dictator.

The event aims to voice disagreement with Putin’s presence, which could mark a historic moment of American civil society’s opposition to authoritarian regimes.

The protest is titled ‘Alaska with Ukraine’ — symbolizing solidarity with Ukraine’s struggle against the erosion of democratic values and the pressure from authoritarian governments, notably Russia.

Organizers emphasize that the rally intends to send a loud signal to the world and to leaders that the Alaskan population firmly opposes any manifestations of authoritarianism and imperial ambitions.

It is noteworthy that President Trump previously announced plans to discuss potential territorial exchanges during negotiations with Putin, provoking widespread debate and concern.

Experts and analysts note that such mass protests are vital to express public rejection of authoritarian tendencies globally.

Meanwhile, foreign policy circles are pondering scenarios involving territorial negotiations or transfers, including possible exchanges, but civil society advocates for safeguarding democratic principles, independence, and sovereignty.

The Telegraph reports that Ukraine might agree to a peace plan involving cessation of hostilities and the transfer of occupied territories to Russia under European-supported peace initiatives.

NATO officials reaffirm their commitment to continue supplying arms to Ukraine, irrespective of the negotiations between Zelensky, Trump, and Putin, to ensure the resilience and defense capacity of the Ukrainian people.
