Fake ‘Reminders’ for Ukrainian Soldiers’ Wives: Propaganda Aiming to Destroy Family Values

On social media platforms and Telegram channels, counterfeit and disinformation ‘reminder’ leaflets have appeared, targeted at the wives of Ukrainian military personnel.
These ‘instructions’ include advice encouraging women to endure abuse, hide signs of domestic violence, avoid public conflicts, and even apologize to their husbands for misunderstandings.
The Center for Counteracting Disinformation reports that such leaflets are fabricated misinformation products designed to discredit Ukrainian soldiers and undermine trust in their family values.
Official Ukrainian institutions unequivocally state that no governmental or military body supports or promotes family violence.
The content of these fake leaflets contradicts Ukrainian legislation, which criminalizes domestic abuse.
To increase credibility, propagandists have added a QR code linking to a real non-governmental organization that provides psychological assistance to soldiers and their families.
This tactic aims to give an illusion of legitimacy and enhance the disinformation campaign.
Experts from the Center highlight that these fakes are part of a multi-layered information operation designed to sabotage Ukraine’s mobilization efforts, spread false narratives about the military, and to promote hostility towards service members.
