EU Prepares New Sanctions Against Russia and Enhances Support for Ukraine Amid Ongoing Conflict

European countries are actively working on developing a new package of economic and financial sanctions aimed at Russia in response to its aggressive actions in Ukraine.
According to reports shared by ‘European Pravda,’ after an informal discussion among Ukraine’s representatives during an extraordinary Foreign Affairs Council meeting of the EU on July 11, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Kalergis, announced details about these efforts.
In her remarks, she emphasized that during this day, EU foreign ministers unanimously supported the United States’ initiative to intensify efforts toward achieving a fair and lasting peace in Ukraine.
“At the same time, — Kalergis stated, — we are working on imposing additional sanctions on Russia, increasing military aid to Ukraine, and strengthening financial support to Ukraine’s budget as well as accelerating its integration into the European Union.” She expressed confidence that transatlatic unity, support for Ukraine, and pressure on Russia are crucial for ending the war and preventing future Russian aggression in Europe.
As of the publication time, the EU foreign ministers’ meeting is still ongoing.
Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared that Kyiv will not make territorial concessions to Moscow during peace negotiations and stressed that Ukrainian territorial issues are already enshrined in the country’s constitution.
Meanwhile, U.S.
Vice President Kamala Harris suggested that the resolution mediated by the United States might not satisfy either Ukraine or Russia.
The leaders are scheduled to hold large-scale online negotiations on August 13 to discuss potential peace settlement paths, involving European leaders, the United States, and Ukraine.
