China Indefinitely Extends Delay of US Tariffs for Another 90 Days Amid Trade Negotiations

In response to recent actions by U.S.

President Donald Trump regarding trade tariffs, China has decided to further postpone the implementation of additional tariffs on American imports for an additional 90 days.

Officials from China’s Ministry of Commerce announced that starting August 12, 2025, the 24% tariff on U.S.

goods will be suspended for this period, while the remaining 10% tariff will continue to be collected.

This decision appears to be a logical extension of diplomatic efforts between the two countries, especially after the negotiations held in Geneva on May 10-11, during which both sides reached agreements aimed at easing tensions and potentially abolishing certain trade restrictions, including blacklisting American companies and restricting the export of rare earth elements.

Beijing has also promised to take necessary steps to suspend or cancel these non-tariff measures in order to improve trade relations with the United States.

This move follows a previous decree signed by President Trump, which barred any increase in tariffs on Chinese goods for the next three months, thereby complicating economic dialogues.

China’s latest step demonstrates its commitment to seeking compromise solutions and maintaining stability in bilateral economic relations.
