Bulgaria Under International Investigation in Ukrainian Corruption Cases

Authorities in Bulgaria have ramped up investigative activities as part of an international cooperation effort between Ukrainian and Bulgarian law enforcement agencies.
According to official sources, searches are currently underway in Sofia and other cities across Bulgaria in response to a request from Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU).
These searches target buildings associated with arms traffickers, with no arrests reported so far.
The investigation focuses on possible corruption schemes linked to the sale of weapons at inflated prices, raising concerns for both Ukrainian prosecutors and Bulgarian law enforcement.
The searches are conducted under the coordination of Bulgaria’s National Investigation Service and are expected to last several days.
This development highlights the increasing international collaboration in combating corruption, especially in areas related to arms dealing and financial misconduct.
Official statements from Bulgarian authorities emphasize that no arrests have been made at this stage, and the law enforcement activities are limited to searches and investigative measures.
Ukrainian agencies, meanwhile, confirm ongoing cooperation and remain committed to resolving the case through established international law enforcement mechanisms.
