Amid high-stakes diplomatic negotiations, the upcoming summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, scheduled for August 15 in Anchorage, USA, is drawing intense international attention.

According to sources within the White House, President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are planning to hold a crucial online meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ahead of the summit.

This virtual consultation aims to coordinate positions and discuss Ukraine’s ongoing conflict while preparing for the diplomatic encounter with Putin.

ABC News reports that two American officials confirmed this strategic move as an essential part of the United States’ broader efforts to ensure regional security and support Ukrainian sovereignty.Zelensky, in statements made on August 12, revealed that Russia has for the first time since the war began shown signs of readiness to end the hostilities.

This development followed a phone call on August 9 involving Trump, White House advisor Steve Vittehoff, and European leaders.

Zelensky indicated that Vittehoff had observed that Russia is potentially open to a cessation of fighting or at least beginning a ceasefire process.

However, he emphasized that the United States has not yet made any specific demands or proposals regarding the conflict, maintaining an open stance for further negotiations.

Zelensky also noted that after his meeting with Trump, the logical next step would be a direct dialogue between Trump and Putin, potentially leading to a trilateral summit involving the United States, Ukraine, and Russia.White House officials confirmed that the Trump-Putin summit is scheduled for August 15 in Anchorage, Alaska.
