Tregubov Defines Russian Goals in Pokrovsk Region: Encirclement Attempts and Active Sabotage Operations

Military spokesperson Victor Tregubov of the strategic operational group ‘Dnipro’ highlighted in his report for ‘Suspilne’ that Russian forces in the Pokrovsk area are pursuing ambitious and perilous objectives.

Large numbers of small infantry groups are attempting to break through what is known as ‘kill zones’—sections where Ukrainian defenders maintain their defensive lines.

According to Tregubov, the main goal of the Russians is to penetrate Ukrainian defenses, encircle the city of Pokrovsk, and, more broadly, the entire Pokrovsk-Myrnograd agglomeration.

This strategy aims to weaken Ukrainian positions and create conditions for further offensives.

He emphasized that the occupiers continue trying to advance and bypass resistance, actively attempting to infiltrate on all sections of the front.

Meanwhile, he noted that Russian forces in the area are experiencing significant shortages of manpower and resources, leading them to avoid direct confrontations where Ukrainian forces deliver stiff resistance.

He also recalled that recently, Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups exploited a loophole and managed to break through Ukrainian lines into Pokrovsk but were destroyed there by Ukrainian soldiers.

Tregubov pointed out that the main objective of the enemy is to disrupt Ukrainian logistical routes to weaken their operational capability.

Official statements from the General Staff deny reports of Ukrainian troops being encircled in the Pokrovsk region, affirming that Ukrainian defenders hold their positions and actively oppose the enemy.

It is also important to note that Russia has deployed over 100,000 troops to this sector, indicating the seriousness of their intentions and the scale of activities in the area.
