The Spanish government reaffirmed its firm stance in support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and emphasized that no decisions regarding Ukrainian territories should be made without Kyiv’s participation.

Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares highlighted during a recent online EU foreign ministers’ meeting that discussions concerning Ukraine must involve the Ukrainian government, stressing the importance of Ukraine’s sovereignty in diplomatic processes.

This statement comes amid preparations for an upcoming summit where European leaders are expected to discuss the ongoing conflict in Eastern Europe amidst tensions with Russia.

Albares expressed cautious optimism about the possibility of meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasizing that such talks should aim for genuine peace—peace that does not compromise Ukrainian sovereignty or European security.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reiterated that Ukraine will not allow Russia to deceive the international community and, regardless of provocations, will stand firm for its independence.

He warned that aggressive Russian actions could lead to increased instability worldwide and encourage neighboring countries to follow suit.

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stressed that Kyiv must be involved in diplomatic negotiations to resolve the conflict, a stance supported by the United States, which agreed to consult with European partners before meeting with the Russian leader.

This unified approach underlines the importance of international solidarity in addressing the crisis, affecting Ukraine, broader Europe, and global stability.
