On Thursday, August 14th, a critical clash will unfold as Donetsk’s FC Shakhtar hosts Greek club Panathinaikos in Kraków, Poland, in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.

This confrontation marks a decisive stage for both teams striving to reach the main phase of the European tournament.

The first encounter, played on August 7th in Athens, ended in a scoreless draw, leaving the door open for an exciting rematch.

The match will be officiated by German referee Daniel Siebert.

Shakhtar has already advanced through two qualification rounds, defeating Finnish Ilves and Turkish Beshiktash, and is now on the brink of reaching the tournament’s group stage.

Meanwhile, Panathinaikos also navigated a tough pathway, entering the qualification after failing to advance past the second round of the Champions League qualifiers, where they lost to Scottish Rangers.

As of now, Shakhtar has played two Ukrainian Premier League matches, earning four points, though the Greek championship kicks off only on August 23rd.

The winner of this duel will earn a spot in the Europa League playoff round and face the winner of the Samsunspor (Turkey) versus Gabala (Azerbaijan) pairing.

The loser will drop into the Europa Conference League, where they will compete against the team defeated in the Swiss- Dutch matchup of Servette versus Utrecht.

The game kicks off at 9 PM and will be available for live streaming, allowing fans worldwide to support their teams in this crucial European battle.
