Amid escalating tensions and active diplomatic efforts to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, critical questions remain: is Europe capable of providing the necessary support to Kyiv to achieve long-term peace and stability? According to leading publications such as The Times, the European Union and its member countries face unprecedented political and military obstacles that hinder the formation of an effective coalition to support Ukraine against Russia.

Key issues include resource shortages, political uncertainty, and the risks of escalation, making military initiatives highly complex and unpredictable.Several countries, including Poland, Spain, and Italy, have explicitly opposed direct military assistance or deploying their troops to the region.

Meanwhile, nations like the United Kingdom and France have initiated steps to form multinational military groups for Ukraine, but the scale and scope of these efforts remain insufficient to make a significant impact.

Russia and its allies, including China and Iran, are strengthening their military capabilities and expanding their support to Ukraine through various channels.Data from research organizations reveal that Europe’s military aid to Ukraine in 2023 surpassed 70 billion euros, much of which funds the procurement of American weapons and technology.

The United States continues to allocate the largest resources and support to Ukraine, supplying advanced air-defense systems and precision weapons, thereby deepening Ukraine’s dependence on American technology. In light of this situation, European leaders emphasize that without more active military and political backing for Kyiv, prospects for peace and stability will remain limited.

Some experts call for increased troop presence and resource investments to prevent losing control over the situation and to achieve genuine peace recovery goals.

Moreover, Northern European countries and the Baltic states stress the importance of involving Kyiv in peace negotiations, despite difficulties, to safeguard Ukraine’s sovereignty and future.
